The deceased was a cancer patient and a Christian. Three years ago, she made thoughtful preparations by purchasing a Free-thinker single niche at Nirvana columbarium as part of her afterlife pre-planning.
A few weeks before her passing, during her critical stage, she visited Nirvana Memorial Garden with her family to personally show them her final resting place. During this visit, she also shared her wishes for her funeral. As a single individual, she expressed her desire for a simple, one-day direct Christian funeral service. Her sincerity and composure deeply moved her family. While they admired her for her foresight and careful planning, they also felt a sense of sorrow and respect for her open-minded acceptance of life and death. Touched by her approach, the family also inquired about pre-planning on the same day.
At her funeral in Mandai crematorium, I coordinated closely with the funeral team to carry out a solemn and dignified Christian farewell service. Though simple, the ceremony was meaningful and heartfelt. The family was deeply impressed by the entire process. When the urn was finally placed into the niche, they experienced a sense of peace and relief, especially comforted by the elegant and serene environment of the columbarium.
