A Mother’s Final Journey: A Daughter’s Love Across Borders

Three months ago, an anxious auntie reached out to me after learning her mother was critically ill. Determined to ensure her mother’s peaceful rest, she visited Nirvana Columbarium to secure a single urn niche in advance.

Her devotion moved me deeply, a testament to the unwavering love between a daughter and her mother. Wanting to remain by her mother’s side even in eternity, she made her own arrangements that same day, selecting a double niche right next to her mother’s.

Then, just days ago, she called with sorrowful news: her mother had passed away overseas. Though heartbroken, she knew she had to return to settle the necessary formalities. The distance, her age, and the emotional toll made the journey especially difficult.

With her still abroad, she entrusted me with a sacred task—receiving her mother’s ashes at Changi Airport and ensuring their safe placement at Nirvana columbarium. That evening, amidst the bustling crowds at the airport, I waited with quiet reverence. When her mother’s remains finally arrived, I escorted them with the utmost care to their final resting place. By the time everything was settled, night had fallen.

It was a profound honor to be part of this deeply personal journey. To be entrusted with such a heartfelt responsibility, it’s a reminder of why we do what we do.
